I was over at Serch-lite listening to the Up&coming album tracks.
Thought this was new stuff.
I heard him dissing Billy Ray Cyrus and talking about Emitt Smith.
I was thinking, "Damn Serch, let it go!"
He's talking about Billy Ray Cyrus!?!?!?!  But then I noticed this ranges from 94-2007.  HA!  I didn't know what to think at 1st.

It was nice to hear some Pete Nice stuff too. Out the Back (although it says Out to Bat on the site) was a pretty good song. I will have to listen to the whole album tomorrow night. If anyone else wants to check it out:

Gotta love the 3rd Bass revival !

Thanks disgruntled for the link...Great to hear new Serch material but check out Pete's flow on Out the Back ! Very different than Dust to Dust where he utilized several different styles. I love it. I hope we get to hear more 3rd Bass material. I thought Daily Commute had a Pete verse in it but it doesn't. I will definitely get my copy in March.

I wish I had Pete's email address.
Out of all of the tracks that came out on Dust to Dust there had to have been a bunch of tracks that, for whatever reason, they didn't put on the album.
And it's not always a quality issue.
Back when Ill Communication was coming out Mike D was showing a dry erase boad that had over 40 tracks (on MTV) - that were all potentially destined for Ill Communication.
They were asking him how he decides what tracks come out and what ones never see the light of day.  1 issue of course was the quality of the song (does is just suck?), but the other reason he said was 'does it go with the general flow of the album?', also the time length of the album.

I could only imagine some of the tracks that Rich and Pete passed on.
Or different versions of just one song.
Muggs was talking about how he had numerous copies of alternate versions of House of Pain's 'Jump Around'.  With different lyrics completely and with some variations on the beat (which pretty much just amounts to a remix - so that's not as interesting..... but still).
I can bet that the track he did with Sam Sever on Dust to Dust wasn't the only track that they worked on at that time.

Cats In The Cradle is another unreleased 3rd Bass track. Serch & Pete rhyme about their kids.  I wonder if maybe DMC heard it a while ago & did Just Like Me (which was his Cats In The Cradle rap remake) because of it.

The two 3rd Bass tracks are incredible - there's nothing I would like to hear more than one more try at a reunion - they have a niche fanbass and more than enough talent to attract new fans - Come on Pete!

I just heard Cats in the Cradle and I can't get that chorus out of my head ! I thought Pete just recently became a father; didn't know he had a kid before.

So they only recorded 3 tracks including Hail to the Chief?

From what I know - Pete had his 1st child last year.

I know for a fact that more than 3 tracks were recorded - I worked with a producer in Columbia, SC who supplied beats for Ichabod's Cranium - he was one of many asked to submit beats - he said that he heard some of their progress and they had several tracks near completion.

Also, I interviewed Serch in 2001 about the album - he said that they had an entire album+ done - but Pete was stalling on finalizing it all - he was too busy with building little league baseball fields.

Lets keep the love for Serch up on his myspace page, keep on Sam Sever, and hopefully we can get through to Pete. They should do 1 more album! Just one would be great for all the fans, they have such a niche out here it would sell, especially in the new digital age. We need to keep encouraging it! These 3 tracks are great to finally hear, damns...

the two 3rd Bass songs were some of the best Hip-Hop I've heard in years. I also listened to some of Serch's '94 stuff. It was O.K. Did he call himself a "crazy cracker" a number of times??? that's what it sounded like and it was "censored" in one of them.

Anyways, Serch ripped it on the two newer tracks. Even after not recording for a number of years, he was better than he was in '94.
