I think Serch is wrong about Proof.

I understand what Serch is saying about 100 Proof not incorporating enough poly-syllabic rhymes but in all honesty it becomes gimicky after awhile.
Some guys are great at it, but too many start doing it.
Not everyone needs to have their rhymes multi-layered.
A good story is a good story regardless....
a punchline is a punchline regardless....
if the main criteria we are concerned about is a poly-syllabic rhyme pattern then what is the point of the show? All you need to do is find the hiphopinfinity.com archives and listen to any one of those mcs.
Alot of people that were into hip hop back in the late 80s to the mid 90s have the main criticism that hip hop is stagnant. That everyone is trying to sound like everyone else. Cries about 'what happened to hip hop'.... some guy is on a show with his own style (reminiscent of those days) and then he's lambasted for not being current.
Serch told him that everyone else in that room is a wolf and that 100 Proof would just be a victim to their styles???? whatever. None of those mcs are wolves..... 100 Proof has the confidence that most of those guys/gal lack.

I agree, I think it's a shame that Proof is gone so soon. The remaining contestants are all in the same style. Modern rap sounding ghetto slang. Proof at least had his own style. If Dasit would've stuck around with Proof we would've at least had some variation in characters. I'm still really down with the show, Serch, and all the guest stars have been amazing and true to the real hip hop. But the MCs that are still on the show are in the current trend of rap, all sounding that same I think.

It's cool because Serch does come across a bit more human. In the sense that he seems more down to earth.
Ever since 3rd Bass broke up and videos from "Return of the Product" stopped getting replayed..... I would only see Serch on like VH-1 or MTV specials about music industry beefs. Where they would be interviewing Serch and then Ice....
The one in particular where Serch was so angry he kept flicking off the camera.... And Ice challenged Serch to a fight.
Then Ice did some goofy rap about Pete Nice looking like the guy from Color Me Bad, and calling Serch a 'hip hop nerd' because of his glasses.

"It's Not a Game, People ! " - I like that catchphrase for some reason.
I remember seeing that Serch interview too on MTV where he told Ice "To stay the f*** in Miami". But now that they both work for VH-1, I think it would be cool if they both made an appearence together and just drop this feud entirely and shake hands. Yes, Ice was wack - move on. Is he still obsessing about Hammer ?

Yeah,
you'd think he'd have a bigger problem with Hammer since Hammer did put a hit on him.
If one would be concerned about phonies and fakes.... I'd look at the guy rapping about why he has to pray, then turns around to have someone killed for a verbal insult.

"Pop Goes The Weasal was a big flop flop...Serch needs to search for some contacts. He's got some big bifocals, wuuurrrrd...lookin like a hip hop nerd. And that other punk makes me laugh...Pete Nice looks like he sings for Color Me Bad. So take a look in the mirror and get to knowin how I'm flowin. Cause I'm blowin up like a bomb!"
I remember that all too well.

It's so funny, but I have that Vanilla Ice thing on tape and memorized the lyrics too. I honestly think those were the best rhymes he ever said....and funny too. Serch looked like a hip hop nerd - check. Pete Nice and the Color Me Badd guy- check. By no means am I a fan of Vanilla but sometimes you have to have a sense of humor about these things.

yeah, that was pretty clever with the Color Me Bad comment.
He does (did) kind of look like that guy.

I also agree 100proof should not have been eliminated. $hamrock should have been the one to step off. $hamrock's flow about carrots, lettuce, peanut butter & jelly was wack as hell. When he was out of breath at the end, I couldn't wait for him to stop rhyming.

Herbalz,
I completely forgot about his rhyme.
Yeah, what the hell was that? I just remember thinking "I don't know what the buck this has to do with his topic".....
he was just going down food groups.

$hamrock's style is similar to the down south style that is very popular right now (he is from Atlanta). That is why he will stick around...the dirty dirty south is HOT right now as far as hip hop goes. I believe his reference to carrots was about diamonds, his reference to lettuce was about money, and his reference to peanut butter and jelly was about the color/style/interior of a vehicle. If you're not up on slang, you won't get a lot of $hamrock's rhymes. I guess many of us on these boards are old-school hip hop fans, but I also listen to a lot of the newer stuff which is why I "get" somebody like $hamrock.

Didn't know that....
Thanks for pointing that out.
I seriously had no idea what he was talking about. Sounded like he was rhyming about packing a lunch.
