A new interview...

http://www.allhiphop.com/features/?ID=1733

MC Serch: I think the only reason it’s relevant is if you miss ‘94. If you’re one of those guys that really love early East Coast Hip-Hop, then I think it has extreme relevance. I think if you’re a person that holds the flame a little bit for 3rd Bass or are a “bass head” that stays on thirdbass.net, then I think it’s important for you. But is it important for a Yung Joc kid? No. Is it important for a fan who likes Jeezy? No. I don’t really expect them to get it or want to get it nor do I care if they get it. This is really an introspective record, something that Hip-Hop doesn’t do.

Awesome.  Nice to see your site getting the props it deserves.  I can't wait to pick up the album.  Thanks for posting.

Well the site is mine, but everyone that is here and participates are the "bass heads" that Serch is referrring to.

It's kind of cool that he is saying that what he releases probably won't appeal to mass audiences but will to those of us that miss 3rd Bass and the older hip hop. I'd have to say that he is putting this together for his existing fans which says a lot considering the way the music industry usually works.

I can't wait for it either. I think it is going to be a digital download, but if he is selling it off the site in CD format I'd definitely buy it, especially if it has liner notes talking about it.

Very true.  Serch definitely recognizes that there's a generation that is feeling a void in hip hop right now.  Ever since 1995 or so, the number of purchases I've made has dropped considerably.  Now I'm more likely to pick up singles as opposed to the full length albums I used to buy, memorize, & wear out.  That being said, there still is good hip hop out there in my opinion, it just seems to take more digging.  I hope this project is a big success.
