Hey Bassheads

I've been listening to K.M.D.'s 2 albums (Mr. Hood & Bl_ck B_st_rds) for a bit lately. Just wondering what you all think about which one is better. I think Bl_ck B_st_rds is doper but the sound quality is pretty damn fucked. Is there a version/re-issue that has been remastered? The "official" release on Sub-Verse is shitty.

I wonder what it would have sounded like if it had been released by Elektra in 1994

yo monte,
if you can get a copy of "The Best Of KMD" which was released in '04 or '05, it contains all the best tracks from both albums. also the sound quality is great. good luck kid.

E Music has both albums and the "Best of" available. I don't know if their downloads are of any better quality or not than what you have. I don't see anything about it being remastered but you can listen to 30 second snippets of each song without buying, maybe you can tell if they sound better. I haven't signed up for Emusic but it says you get 25 free downloads when you sign up. It might be worth a try, don't know if you will find an actual copy out there anywhere.

I love the KMD albums, and I agree that the BB album is varied and lesser quality. It was probably never properly mastered as the label pulled the plug on it. Still way dope though! I prefer Mr. Hood just a little bit I think. It's more varied and upbeat, just some kids having fun in the studio. And still very creative sampling and great music on that. BB is probably just as good, but the poorer production and darker tone makes it harder to listen to as a complete statement. I think Mr Hood feels more like a finished and complete entire album.

Agreed the Best Of collection is better quality and worth getting.
