Number 1 for me was Tim Dogg.
His rhymes and his lysping were pretty bad.
But I loved his attitude on some of the tracks (despite punking out of a hip hop boxing tournament).
Rarely admitted that I like him, but I have his albums.

I bought Skee Lo's album when it came out based on that song "I Wish". Only thing I wish is that I hadn't bought that album.
I actually do have both Tim Dogg's albums although I really only listened to the first, his dissing of NWA was about all that made that album listenable.
Wait, I can top Skee Lo. I was looking for Tairre B a long time ago and all I remembered of her was that she was blonde and white and had NWA in her video. In my quest to find that I ended up with a tape by Icy Blu... (coulda been vanilla in drag?)

I had the MC Hammer cassette with U Can't Touch This on it. I used to listen to that tape over and over again. His rapping might have been whack, but I still say Hammer could dance his ass off. I also admit to liking that song by Deion Sanders-- "Must Be the Money" and "I Drop Bombs" by Shaq (I think that's what it was called. Something about "All you jealous punks can't stop my dunks") :-D

I was a fan of Ice Ice Baby. Yes, I know I should be shot. But at the time I was 12 years old, and his song was played on the radio all the time and it was popular with the girls. I didn't know too much about 3rd Bass at the time and violating the culture stuff from Serch. But more importantly, I didn't realize that he ripped off the sample from Queen / David Bowie's "Under Pressure".
I laugh about it now, but back in the early 90s I was a big fan of MC Hammer. I never owned the U Can't Touch This tape because that song was on all the time, but I did buy the soundtrack to the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie which had an MC Hammer song, "This is What We Do" - horrible, horrible. But again, what did I know ? I was young, naive and stupid. His flow, lyrics and beat were awful.
I did tape all his music videos - my favorites were "Turn This Mutha Out" and "Get It Started". He was a pretty good entertainer.
Do I deserve to be shot again if I told you I liked "We Got to Pray" ?

Hey Jericho,
Don't forget 2 Legit 2 Quit! And, I also liked the "Pray" song, so don't feel bad. As for Vanilla Ice, I was never a fan of his. I thought he was mad corny. But, I didn't mind "Ice Ice Baby". It was a catchy tune that was easy enough to sing along to. Did you ever see his academy award winning movie "Cool As Ice"?

MC Hammer had great range - from rapping about absolutely nothing from TMNT part I, mumbling about absolutely nothing in 2 legit 2 quit to rapping about KFC's popcorn chicken. I think this guy was way worse than Vanilla but why did he make it to the top - because of you, the American people.
Never saw Cool as Ice but again I (and a few of my buddies) marked out for "Play that Funky Music". Why ? I have no idea. This was before I discovered DJ Red Alert.
Ironically enough, I was kind of embarrased to tell people that I was a fan of 3rd Bass. People used to ask me who I liked and I'd say PE or EPMD, which I did but not nearly as much. I thought Serch was too goofy to be taken seriously.
Now if you'll excuse me, I will look for my copy of Vanilla's "Ninja Rap".

When I was a kid I loved Young MC's first album. I know he was real corny on the positive tip and all and people used to diss the shit out of him but I thought the brother had flow. I even digged his second cd a little even though the beats were really electronic like.

Can't believe I'm goint to admit this -
but I use to listen to Music for the People by Marky Mark.
I loved the title track song "Music for the People"... it had some fast beats, samples.
I had a body length mirror on the wall in front of my boxing bag and I would work out on it while rhyming along in the mirror as if it was a video.
I sucked.

At least Marky Mark has redeemed himself by becoming a great actor. He's actually becoming one of my favorite actors, particularly his performances in Four Brothers and The Departed. I wonder if he looks back on those Funky Bunch days and cringes. I didn't buy any of his albums, but I thought "Good Vibrations" was a decent song.
