http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1607184/20090317/cage.jhtml. So nothing is set in stone for this movie yet, i guess its just an idea right now. But if you think about it, Pete Nice and DJ Daddy Rich would probably be would be two of the characters in the film. That would be pretty cool.

LiquidSwords thanks for the heads up !

Okay, Dust to Dust is my all time favorite album and I've listened to it at least a million times. Forgive me for asking, - but I don't know who this Cage rapper is? First of all, was this the same guest rapper on Rich Bring Em Back and 3 Blind Mice ? I never knew who that rapper was but wasn't he a member of the Dreadnoughts ? (remember that lead single, "Causing a Menace?"). I only recognize the voice. If this Cage guy is the same guy on Dust to Dust well that just blows my mind because I didn't know he was white (not that race is a big deal to me) but furthermore, I never read anything back in '93 from Pete or Rich promoting him. This is mind blowing to me.

I looked up Cage on Wikipedia and it mentions his big break with Bobbito and Pete on Dust to Dust. It's just hard for me to visualize the voice with the guy on the clip.

If Shia makes a movie about Cage's life, there has to be an inclusion of Pete, no question.

How did I miss this all this time? I thought I heard many underground hip-hop in the nineties when I lived in NYC. No mention of him though.

Cage has been around for many years. He got his big break with Pete, on Dust to Dust, he went on to do some solo stuff, then in 2001 Mr. Eon(sp) Dj Mighty Mi(sp), and Cage formed the group Smut Pleddlers. Cage was always known as a hardcore rapper that talked about all kinds of Drugs, and other crazy stuff (He had accused Eminem of bitting his style, and even had a few diss tracks aimed at Em). He was also known to drop the N-bomb a lot. Now Cage is a totally different guy. He lost a ton of weight, stopped rapping, and now makes what I call new age hippie music. I never was a fan of Cage, but I respected his music, now everyone calls him a sellout ........ he is  Grin   Do a quick youtube search on him, you will see what I'm talking about

Thanks mitchk for the rundown on Cage !

I was thinking about this all day. I've been listening to this album for 17 years (!) but all this time I thought the guest MC on 3 Blind Mice and Rich Bring Em Back were the same guy from the Dreadnots. In fact, I was looking at the album credits and I don't even see Cage credited on Rich Bring Em Back which is kind of messed up considering he had a whole verse and it was his big break.

For a debut, I think Cage killed on that track but its a shame he wasn't more acknowledged by Pete. When he promoted the album, he mentioned Kurious, KMD and the Beatnuts but nothing about Cage. Cage's flow on that track when I first heard it a long time ago reminded me of Das Efx mixed with Kook G Rap.

I did check out some youtube videos and I was like, wow that's the same guy? On one level its a great revelation for me, but on the other I feel stoopid for just finding out now.

Does anyone know if there was any animosity between Cage and Pete given that Hoppoh folded?

If a movie about his life does get made by Shia, I hope he doesn't play Pete.

Okay, I was just searching through some old posts on Cage and this topic was addressed before like he calling 3rd Bass "Dirt Bass". I don't feel bad anymore for not putting two and two together. I just never seen the guy before. But this solidifies my belief that Dust to Dust is a great, great album nonetheless.
